As a leading broadcaster in Reunion Island, Antenne Réunion Télévision is prone to traffic spikes which can render their site often unavailable due to the high load it causes.
I suggested to implement full-page caching at the CDN level and helped their development team understand the implications and how to optimize. I invited them to use the CDN API to purge cache of pages when their are edited by a user.
This lead to more than 90% of the content cached by the CDN at the edge, with even more that 95% on traffic spikes, allowing to save precious CPU resources so that the server stays online.
This also had a nice side-effect: the speed of the website was dramatically increased for visitors outside Reunion as the content is cached at on a edge closer to them.
